We hold a two-day marathon devoted entirely to drawing in ordinary pencil. We are used to talking about color, painting and working in oils. But real expression is born much earlier — in the drawing. It is there that volume, light, space and the mood of the future picture appear. In two days we build a modern still life with white roses, a glass vase and grapes, flooded with sunlight. Even if you have only ever painted in oils, this marathon will help you see light, form and tone anew. That knowledge stays with you in every picture that follows.

Back in 1996 my parents took me to a children's art school. That was how it was done - children were sent to learn to draw. But unlike my classmates at the "art school", even then I had made up my mind that painting would be my profession.

After school I went to a college of culture, where I qualified as a "Master Artist". It is the place where they taught me not only to paint, but to cross-stitch, to knot macramé, to model and to carve... In short, everything you can possibly imagine in the crafts was passed on to me there by experienced teachers.
