Materials

Paints

For paints we will need my classic paint set.

I work with the French paint PEBEO. You may take paint from other makers, but the shades may differ.

Below is the list of paints and their PEBEO numbers

  • titanium white25
  • lemon01
  • cadmium yellow02
  • cadmium red 05/06/07 (any one or all)
  • light ochre20
  • raw sienna21
  • rose37
  • madder50
  • turquoise38
  • cobalt12
  • ultramarine14
  • steel blue47
  • black24

The only color from the Ladoga / Master Class range is Raw Leningrad Umber.

As you can see, I have no green.

Canvas

The size I will be painting on: 50x70,

In the lessons I paint on linen canvases. The size is up to you. It is worth going by the ratio of the sides.

If the reference is elongated, the difference between the sides should be 20 cm or more (for example 40x60 / 50x70).

Classic rectangular formats have a 10 cm difference (40x50 / 50x60)

You also choose squares or circles based on the reference.

I do not mind if you depart from the given canvas proportions, for example, if the reference is elongated and you decide to take a square canvas.

It is always an interesting creative task.

Solvent

I paint with pure odorless pinene. If you are used to painting with oil or with triple medium, that is up to you, but I recommend taking a look at the way I build a painting.

Brushes

I use flat-oval synthetics. From the smallest to medium. A flat wash brush is optional. I will not rely on them. Bristle will not be a main brush either.

Other tools may appear as the course goes on; I will mention them in the lesson, but they will not be essential.

Palette knife

I always recommend having 2-4 palette knives of different shapes.

  • Co-founder of the painting school "Izo Project PARTA"

Back in 1996 my parents took me to a children's art school. That was how it was done - children were sent to learn to draw. But unlike my classmates at the "art school", even then I had made up my mind that painting would be my profession.

After school I went to a college of culture, where I qualified as a "Master Artist". It is the place where they taught me not only to paint, but to cross-stitch, to knot macramé, to model and to carve... In short, everything you can possibly imagine in the crafts was passed on to me there by experienced teachers.
