Summer, a veranda flooded with sun, a garden beyond the railing and an unhurried tea. On the table — a gleaming metal samovar, a porcelain teapot and cups, and everything around is full of sunlit highlights and colored reflected light.
In the new two-day marathon "Tea on the Veranda" we will paint a light summer still life and work through one of the most beautiful and at the same time trickiest painting tasks — how to convey bright sunlight by painterly means.
The marathon runs over two days.
We will move in sequence: from composition and the large color relationships to modeling the objects, working with light and the finishing accents.
The result will be not just a still life with a samovar, but a sunlit painting with the atmosphere of a summer tea on the veranda.

What the course gives you
- We will pay particular attention to the metal samovar. We will look at how to paint a complex reflecting surface not by drawing in every detail, but through the large relationships of light, shadow, highlights and reflected light. We will see how the surrounding colors are reflected in the metal and help create the sense of its shine and materiality.
- We will learn to paint a white tablecloth, which in fact consists of many shades: cool blue and lilac shadows, warm sunlit areas and bright patches of light. We will talk about how to keep the sense of white while using a rich palette.
- We will look at porcelain and glass, soft and hard edges, cast shadows, colored reflected light and contrasts.
And the main thing — we will try to gather all of it into a whole piece, filled with air, light and the feeling of a real summer day.
