Materials

Paints

We will need my standard set of paints.

I use French PEBEO paints. You can use paints from other manufacturers, but the shades may differ.

Here is a list of paints and their PEBEO numbers

The only color from the Ladoga/Master Class range is Leningrad raw umber.

As you can see, I do not have any green.

Solvent

I paint with pure odorless pinene. If you are used to painting with oil or triple medium, that is up to you, but I recommend taking a closer look at my painting approach.

Brushes

I use synthetic filbert brushes, from very small to medium sizes. You can use a flat wash brush if you like. I will not be focusing on these. A bristle brush will not be a main brush either.

Other tools may come up as I create the course. I will mention them in the lessons, but they will not be essential.

Palette knife

I always recommend having 2-4 palette knives in different shapes.

Canvas

The size I will be painting on: 50x60 or 60x70

In the lessons, I paint on linen canvases. You are free to choose your own size. Use the aspect ratio as a guide.

If the reference is elongated, the difference between the sides should be 20 cm or more (for example, 40x60 / 50x70).

Classic rectangular formats have a 10 cm difference between the sides (40x50 / 50x60)

Choose square or round canvases based on the reference as well.

I do not mind if you depart from the suggested canvas proportions, for example, if the reference is elongated but you decide to use a square canvas.

That is always an interesting creative challenge.
